AC MILAN REFUSES TO MAKE GIROUD A PRIORITY

For Tammy Abraham to be missing in action due to injury and yet, Olivier Giroud fails to take advantage to further his cause for first team football, the French man’s time at Chelsea may well and truly be over.

The story is different in France though. The former Arsenal forward failed to score a goal throughout last year’s world cup yet France clinched the title. It is with little wonder that despite France blessed with all manner of strikers both at home and abroad, national team coach Didier Deschamps has stuck with Giroud as his number one.

Remaining with Chelsea and just warming their bench all season, despite how much Deschamps may love Giroud, is not enough guarantee he would lead Les Bleus attacking line come next year’s Euros.

Minutes are still important and the moment news broke out that AC Milan were interested in signing the hunky forward, he must have started backing his bags instantly.

AC Milan has however come out to debunk such news labelling it fake and saying at no point were they interested in signing the former Montpelier man.

It is hard to blame the Serie A side since Giroud remains one of the few players whom even the team he plays for struggles to describe what kind of value he adds to the team. Any striker that has a problem finding the back of the net on a regular basis is already a recipe for frustration.

France were able to afford to play Giroud upfront mainly because the world cup doesn’t take up to ten matches to crown a winner. For a team, in a league which is very much akin to a marathon, having a striker who finds the back of the net on a regular basis is one of the reasons Leicester were able to lift the EPL four years ago.
